DAVID ESSIG

David Essig is one of the most respected landmark points of reference for acoustic music in Canada.  Originally from the Washington D.C. area, he moved to Canada about 1970 and has, since then, made his mark in folk clubs and festivals from sea to sea.  He plays and sings bluegrass, blues and country music classics with remarkable proficiency and authority.  He also has created a sizeable body of original material, much of it based on these classic forms.  David also has a natural ability to improvise, and it's probably that strength that has allowed him to channel his creativity into unexplored musical territory, boldly going where few other musicians have dared.

David's musical career has mostly been based in Canada, with occasional ventures into the US, but he has established a following in southern Europe as well.  He currently lives on an island paradise near Vancouver Island, B.C, Canada.
